I’ve done Amtrak between St. Louis and Boston several times before, usually via D.C. eastbound. Maybe I’ll be able to get a bedroom on the Capitol Limited if it becomes a decent train again.
Another interesting option eastbound is taking the Cardinal to Newark, spending the night at the Doubletree which is attached to the station, and then catching an NEC train to Boston from there. I’d have crappy food on the Cardinal; but I haven’t ridden that train in years and would like to check out the scenery again.
